When we tested this service, the wildness and natural charm of the bouquets made us feel like we had personally ventured out and picked the flowers ourselves. The Midi and Maxi arrangements we received were similarly sized (now called the Just Right (20 stems), and Fancy Pants (40 stems), respectively), but the Maxi had closed buds that opened after a few days, creating a fuller and more beautiful appearance.

For Mother's Day, it is recommended to order in advance to ensure your flowers arrive on time. Based on our experience, the Farmgirl bouquet we received lasted for an impressive 10 days, so planning for a pre-Mother's Day delivery may be a good option. Farmgirl Flowers does offer some next-day shipping, and notes the earliest delivery dates of each of its arrangements. April & Ashley is a new farm to door flower company that specializes in roses. The company works with Milagro Farms in Columbia to offer over two dozen exquisite roses. The roses are sold by the dozen for $69 or with 24 stems for $20 more. Rose bushes and potted roses are also available too for an enduring gift.

I was immediately drawn to the Red Panther, a classic red rose accentuated with streaks of hot pink, and the Westminster Abbey, a moody and unexpected rose with a lavender-grey tint. I only wish the brand provided suggestions on which to mix and match if you want to create your own arrangement.

Two-day shipping is a flat $25 for every two-dozen roses. The flowers arrived healthy, with the stems arrived carefully wrapped in a biodegradable sponge to keep them hydrated and a canvas pouch. The next morning, they truly began to thrive and open up. They were so fragrant, lush, and full.

Best for: Chic, Parisian-inspired bouquets

Founded by two Parisian bankers who moved to New York, they wanted to bring the elegant flower arrangements they were accustomed to in France to the US. Ode à la Rose offers seasonal flower choices and hand-tied bouquets with no more than three floral varieties to keep things simple, resulting in a balanced, minimalist, and chic bouquet that will look great anywhere.

Ode à la Rose offers same-day flower delivery to  NYC, Chicago, Los Angeles, Austin, Miami, and Washington, DC and next-day flower delivery to the rest of the continental US. Simply search by ZIP code to see if they ship to your desired destination. Shipping costs between $8 for smaller arrangements to $25 for larger bouquets. You can also add on treats like macaroons, chocolate, or candles to your bouquet.

Best for: Costco enthusiasts

Costco members shouldn't sleep on this valuable membership perk of high quality flowers at some of the most affordable around.

The selection is highly curated (re: limited), but many are available for next-day delivery. Even better, shipping is free. Depending on your proximity to a Costco, same-day delivery may be available via Instacart. It truly, just keeps getting better. The flowers are fulfilled by ProFlowers.Net. The biggest stand out is a 50-stem arrangement of red, pink, white and purple roses for $63. Most arrangements ship straight from the farm.

Best for: Beautiful, high-quality roses and gift sets

When it comes to delivering premium long-stemmed roses, Roses Only stands out as a destination for roses. The velvety-soft roses come in red, pink, and yellow varieties and are carefully packed in an elegant box, with each stem getting its own water reservoir to ensure total freshness upon arrival. While the service is expensive, we think the quality justifies the cost.

Although the service sells other types of flowers like lilies and wildflowers, we haven't tried them and can't vouch for their quality. However, given the quality of their roses, we have high hopes for their other offerings.
